Fouquenet wins in Middelkerke but overall Telenet Superprestige victory goes to Van Alphen
Saturday 7 February 2026
Amandine Fouquenet claimed her third victory of the 2025–2026 Telenet Superprestige in Middelkerke. The French rider went solo in the opening lap and won with a 20-second advantage over Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado and Marie Schreiber.
The course in Middelkerke proved particularly demanding this year. The Pauwels Sauzen – Altez Industriebouw CT duo of Amandine Fouquenet and Leonie Bentveld made the fastest start. Before the final round of the series, Fouquenet trailed overall leader Aniek van Alphen (777 Racing) by seven points, prompting the French rider to go all out from the very beginning.
After the opening lap, Fouquenet already held a 10-second lead. Behind her, a chasing group formed featuring Marion Norbert Riberolle (Crelan-Corendon), Marie Schreiber (Team SD Worx – Protime), Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Fenix-Premier Tech) and Van Alphen.
After a difficult first lap, Alvarado eventually found her rhythm. The Dutch champion accelerated away from the chasing group, but by then her deficit to Fouquenet had already grown to 15 seconds. The battle for victory seemed to be settled between Fouquenet and Alvarado, especially after Belgian champion Norbert Riberolle suffered a puncture while riding in third position.
Halfway through the race, things suddenly looked bleak for Aniek van Alphen. The Dutch rider found herself in ninth place, which would have cost her the overall victory if Fouquenet were to win.
Unless Alvarado could still intervene? Going into the final lap, the Dutch rider had closed the gap to 12 seconds, but she never managed to get onto Fouquenet’s wheel. Fouquenet followed up her victories in Heusden-Zolder and Gullegem with another win in Middelkerke. Alvarado finished second at 20 seconds, while Marie Schreiber completed the podium in third place. Aniek van Alphen eventually finished eighth, just enough to secure her overall victory.
