Del Grosso scores back-to-back wins

After winning the fifth round in Heusden-Zolder, Tibor Del Grosso (Alpecin–Deceuninck) also claimed victory in the sixth race of the Telenet Superprestige 2025-2026. He edged out Joran Wyseure (Crelan–Cordendon) and Thibau Nys (Baloise Glowi Lions) after an intense battle.

Drama struck at the start when Michael Vanthourenhout unclipped from his pedal, causing a crash. The second-placed rider in the standings immediately launched a chase to grab as many points as possible.

At the front, Del Grosso quickly took the lead thanks to a strong sand section. In the chasing group, Thibau Nys had to recover several positions after a poor start. By the second lap, the Belgian champion was setting the pace in the chase group and, after a strong sand section, rode solo at his own tempo towards leader Del Grosso.

The two swapped positions for several laps but gradually lost ground to the chasers. In the seventh of nine laps, Joran Wyseure caught up once again.

The tactical battle caused small mistakes. In the penultimate lap, Del Grosso had to put a foot down, giving Nys a perfect opportunity to attack. His attempt, however, went nowhere. The Belgian champion also made a mistake in the sand. Del Grosso took advantage and extended his lead by a few seconds. Nys launched an all-or-nothing effort on the Regimentsberg to close the gap, but it was in vain. Wyseure maintained the right pace and overtook Nys for second place.

Del Grosso thus achieved his second consecutive victory in the Telenet Superprestige. Wyseure moved up to third place in the overall standings with his second-place finish, while Nys finished third. Vanthourenhout, with a strong comeback to sixth place, secured his top spot in the overall standings.
